Vietnam beat their Thai rivals 1-0 on Sunday night to win the gold medal in men’s football for the second time in a row at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. Vietnam has won 188 gold medals so far at the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, more than the total numbers of golds of second-placed Thailand, third-placed Indonesia, and fourth-placed Philippines combined. As of 3:00 pm on Sunday, the host nation had bagged 188 gold medals, 109 silvers, and 109 bronzes, according to the event's official website. Thailand ranked second with 77 golds, 92 silvers, and 125 bronzes. Indonesia and the Philippines were in third and fourth places with 62 and 47 gold medals, respectively. Vietnamese athletes claimed a total of 17 gold medals on Saturday, with the championship title in women’s football being the most notable.
