At the same time, acquired immunity (due to vaccines and infection) has not been stable for a long time and decreases over time. In Vietnam, more than 9 million new cases were reported in the first seven months of this year, with over 33,000 cases in July alone, up 22.4 percent from June. Progress made toward carbon credit market
Opening up a new business Tang The Cuong, Head of the Climate Change Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said Vietnam is strengthening its capacity to build and operate a carbon market to realize its target of cutting GHG emissions under the Paris agreement, creating new impetus for low-carbon economic growth and sustainable development. Specifically, Vietnam will cut its total GHG emissions by nine percent compared to its previous development scenario, equivalent to 83.9 million tonnes of CO2, by using domestic resources. With international support, it will increase emission cutbacks to 27 percent, equivalent to 250.8 million tonnes of CO2. HCMC records a rising number of new pediatric Covid-19 cases In recent weeks, the number of Covid-19 cases in the southern metropolis has tended to increase rapidly, with an average of 144 new cases per day. Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong becomes Miss World Vietnam 2022
The 22-year-old beauty from the southern province of Dong Nai became the owner of a 3-billion-VND (USD 128,221) crown and received a cash reward of VND 300 million (USD 12,822). She will represent Vietnam at the 71st Miss World competition. Meanwhile, Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and Nguyen Phuong Nhi from the central province of Thanh Hoa were the first and second runners-up, respectively. The first runner-up got VND 150 million and the second, VND 100 million. Nguyen Thi Phuong Linh and Nguyen Thuy Linh completed the Top 5 finalists. Vietnam’s middle power diplomacy in ASEAN
Vietnam’s diplomatic activism in ASEAN reflects its status as an emerging middle power. This year marks the 27th anniversary of Vietnam’s ASEAN membership. Accession into ASEAN in 1995 provided Vietnam with a springboard to pursue international integration, attract external resources for economic development, and expand its diplomatic networks.
