Travel becomes cheaper as peak summer tourism season ends
In June Linh Chi of Hanoi booked a ticket to Da Nang for traveling this week for VND4.2 million ($180). She recently booked a ticket on the same route for a friend who will accompany her, and the fare had fallen by nearly 20 percent to VND3.5 million. On the Vietnam Airlines website, the fares from Hanoi and HCMC to Da Nang, one of the busiest tourist hotspots this summer, have declined by 50-60 percent since late June. On Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways, the fares are VND1.6-2.5 million. A month ago a return trip from Hanoi to Phu Quoc cost VND7 million, but has now fallen by nearly half. Airfares on the Hanoi-HCMC route, one of the world's busiest, were up to VND6 million last month but are now no more than VND5 million. Airline delays increase during peak season
Last week, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) sent a document requesting airlines to comply with the daily flight plan with confirmed slots and issued flight permits. If flights are found to be moving at the wrong time compared to the confirmed slot, the service will be refused and reported to the authority. This is the second time that the CAAV has decided to remind airlines about daily plans, with delays and cancellations of flights forcing initial action earlier in July. Airline delays increase during peak season According to data from the agency, the number of delayed flights in June reached around 5,600, accounting for 18.2 per cent and up 16 per cent over the same period in 2021. Fishermen eagerly rushing to sea thanks to fuel price drop
Fishermen in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province are transporting essential commodities onto their boats for offshore fishing trips. 46-year-old fisherman Nguyen Van Muoi from Hoang Mai Town of Nghe An Province happily shared that he has just come ashore to sell 40 tonnes of squid and 10 tonnes of fish. When the oil price increased last month, it took him nearly VND300 million (US$12,800) to buy fuel. Luckily, the last trip was bountiful, and his profit came to VND300 million. Packing next to Muoi’s boat is the boat of 43-year-old Chuong Van Thanh from Hai Cang Ward of Quy Nhon City. The PM commended the ambassador’s active contributions to promoting the Vietnam-U.K. strategic partnership in all fields, diplomatic channels and people-to-people exchange. Mentioning the U.K.-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKFTA), Chinh said the deal has played a role in forging the bilateral economic and trade ties, with two-way trade standing at nearly 6.6 billion USD last year, up 17.2% year-on-year.
