On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index started off the afternoon with a steady rise. It hit a peak at around 2pm and then fell off to the baseline. The index rose again at 2:15pm and reached half the previous peak. It held steady for about 15 minutes and suddenly suffered a free fall in the last minutes to 1,273.66 points, roughly 1.62 points (0.13 per cent) below the baseline. The southern exchange was overrun by decliners whose number reached 243. Advancers' head count, meanwhile, was just 94. Three stocks hit ceiling prices whereas two sat at the other end. Thursday was a busy day for HoSE as investors traded 558 million shares on the exchange, equivalent to about VND14 trillion (US$600 million). FLC securities subsidiary appoints new board after mass resignation
The three, Trinh Van Nam, Pham Thi Thanh Nga and Chairman Le Ba Phuong were appointed at its general meeting of shareholders Tuesday afternoon. This is the first time Phuong works at BOS Securities, though he was a member of FLC’s board of supervisors before resigning in 2014. The BOS board used to have five members but two, Trinh Thi Thuy Nga and Huong Tran Kieu Dung, were arrested for allegedly manipulating the stock market in April and were officially dismissed Tuesday. The rest, Le Ba Nguyen, Chu Tien Vuong and Nguyen Quynh Nga, all resigned in early August for personal reasons. In July Nguyen was named chairman of FLC to replace Trinh Van Quyet, his brother-in-law who got arrested in March for allegedly manipulating the stock market. Vietnam seeks revision of EAEU FTA to boost trade with Kazakhstan

Market dips on strong selling force
Shares inched down on Thursday morning, as a selling force dominated the market trend. On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index reversed the recent rally, down 2.94 points, or 0.23 per cent, to 1,272.34 points. The market breadth was negative as 328 stocks slid, while 107 rose. Liquidity also decreased over the previous session, with the matching value on the HoSE reaching nearly VND6.3 trillion (US$268.3 million), a fall of 26 per cent. Foreign investors, meanwhile, net sold more than VND146 billion on the southern market. The index's reversal was due to stronger selling pressure at the end of the morning trade. The VN30-Index, tracking the 30 biggest stocks on the HoSE, posted a decline of 1.3 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 1,299.1 points.
