Jointly organised by the Ministry of Finance and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the event also aimed to collect comments on the draft project on application of IFRS in Vietnam, thus rolling out orientation for the process in the country. Vu Duc Chinh, Director of the Accounting and Auditing Policies Department (AAPD) under the Ministry of Finance, said in the strategy until 2020, Vietnam’s accounting and auditing sector will approach international practices. Vietnam’s textile industry aims for green standards
The textile and garment industry, aiming to take advantage of free trade agreements (FTAs) with a focus on green manufacturing, is upbeat about earning US$60 billion from exports by 2025. Last year the industry earned $36 billion in exports, up 16 per cent year-on-year, making the country one of the world’s three biggest exporters of textiles and apparel, according to the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS). Vu Duc Giang, chairman of VITAS, said the association this year set a target of $40 billion in exports, up 11 per cent year-on-year. Speaking at the 2019 Global Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Conference held last week in HCM City, Giang said the industry was expected to enjoy a trade surplus of $20 billion, and employ 2.85 million workers. WB willing to support Vietnam in climate change response and environmental protection
The World Bank (WB) had assessed hazardous solid waste management in Vietnam with the focus on urban areas. The WB is always willing to assist Vietnam in climate change response and environmental protection, Benoit Bosquet, the WB's regional director for sustainable development in East Asia and Pacific, said at a meeting with Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh in Hanoi on December 9. At the meeting, Benoit Bosquet praised the Vietnamese government for taking practical actions in climate change adaptation and environmental protection, adding that he believed the government and especially the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) will achieve the targets.
