Pig prices in Vietnam have considerably fallen in recent days following tighter control over illegal pig export through border gates. In the northern region, a kilo of pig costs between VND65,000-69,000, around VND5,000-6,000 lower than two weeks ago. The highest price of VND69,000 is reported in Hung Yen and Thai Binh, while the lowest is in Ha Nam and Tuyen Quang. Pig prices have also decreased in the central and Central Highlands regions and have declined by VND1,000-6,000 per kilo to VND60,000-67,000. Meanwhile, the prices in the southern region have dropped to VND58,000-70,000 per kilo. In the first two weeks of July, pig prices have increased to VND75,000 per kilo from VND60,000. VN-Index curbs rising trend as investors dump pillar stocks
Signs of correction appeared quite early when selling orders were pushed up strongly among large-cap stocks. In the opposite direction, the reciprocal cash flow quickly poured into the market to help the VN-Index reverse after the ATO session. There was a time when the index easily surpassed 1,260 points. However, as soon as the VN-Index was about to pass this point, profit-taking orders in the group of large-cap stocks were placed heavily. On the other side of the electric board, although the buying order did not show any sign of weakening against the supply pressure, it was not strong enough to keep the VN-Index to stay green at the end of the trading session. Closing the trading session on August 10, the VN-Index dropped 2.35 points, or 0.19 percent, to 1,256.5 points. The difference between gainers and losers was not too large, with 246 losers, 210 gainers, and 77 unchanged stocks. Maybank Securities predicts robust growth for H2 2022
In addition to the intrinsic strength of the Vietnamese dong (VND), the country’s healthy macro conditions, and large forex reserves, the report by Maybank Securities predicts that adverse external factors will ease in the coming months. Thus, pressure on Foreign Exchange (FX) will retreat, easing a big worry among investors in the stock market. Moreover, the negative FX impact on the earnings of some sectors in the first half of 2022 – such as logistics, steel, and utilities – is likely to reverse in the second half of the year. Following the resilience in the first half and given the low base in the third and fourth quarters last year, it is believed that the earnings growth of listed companies will remain robust in most sectors in H2. This has been gradually reflected in the market’s recovery from late July and should continue in August. Analysts at Maybank Securities pointed out that HSX-listed companies only posted around 1.7 per cent on-year earnings growth on average in … [Read more...] about Maybank Securities predicts robust growth for H2 2022
