Symposium looks into Poet Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s life, career

UNESCO Chief Representative in Vietnam Christian Manhart addresses the event (Photo: VNA) Ben Tre (VNA) – A international symposium was held in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on June 29 to discuss the life and career of UNESCO-recognised cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu, a great poet, an enthusiastic teacher and a moral doctor. According to UNESCO Chief Representative in Vietnam Christian Manhart, during the UNESCO’s 41st General Assembly in Paris in November 2021, 193 members of the agency approved a resolution to celebrate the Vietnamese poet’s birthday in 2022. The representative explained that the General Assembly made this decision because Nguyen Dinh Chieu was an outstanding figure, one of the most honoured Vietnamese poet s whose works were translated into many languages. Vietnam, UK seek closer relations

Vietnam remains supportive and would serve as the bridge for the UK to expand its partnership with ASEAN, calling for the UK parliament to support ASEAN’s central role in the region, as well as Vietnam’s stance on regional security issues. Talking to Prudential Chairwoman Shriti Vadera, the NA leader congratulated the firm on its successes in the world as well as in Vietnam, expressing his hope that it will continue operating successfully in the country and fulfill its social responsibility. HCM City calls for EU investment in nearly 200 projects

(Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City is calling for investment into 197 projects in ten key areas, including infrastructure development, agriculture, industry, trade and services, healthcare, tourism, education and housing, an official told the Vietnam – Europe Business Forum in the southern largest economic hub on June 30. Dao Minh Chanh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment, said EU countries are investing in 2,724 projects in HCM City, mostly in the fields of manufacturing and processing, retaile and wholesale, motor and automobile repair and maintenance, and information and communications. Shares end lower as selling pressure increases

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index decreased 1.68 per cent, to end at 1,197.60 points. It had increased 1.27 per cent, to end Wednesday at 1,218.10 points. More than 510 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, equivalent to VND11.3 trillion (US$485.6 million). Market breadth was negative with 371 losers and 89 gainers.
