Businesses commit to building social housing projects for low-income earners

The Vietnamese Government has called on the business community to develop social housing projects and make suggestions to remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of projects. About 1.2 million apartments under social housing projects will be built for Vietnamese low-income earners and workers from now to 2023. This is the commitment of local businesses participating in the conference to promote social housing development for low-income earners and workers, which was chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on August 1. Addressing the event, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vu Chien Thang welcomed specific proposals and support that China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have given to the implementation of programmes and projects within the ACCSM Work Plan . Samsung workers in Vietnam bear brunt of slowdown in global demand for electronics

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has scaled back production at its massive smartphone plant in Vietnam, employees say, as retailers and warehouses grapple with rising inventory amid a global fall in consumer spending. America's largest warehouse market is full and major U.S. retailers such as Best Buy and Target Corp warn of slowing sales as shoppers tighten their belts after early COVID-era spending binges. The effect is acutely felt in Vietnam's northern province of Thai Nguyen, one of Samsung's two mobile manufacturing bases in the country where the world's largest smartphone vendor churns out half of its phone output, according to the Vietnam government. Samsung, which shipped around 270 million smartphones in 2021, says the campus has the capacity to make around 100 million devices a year, according to its website. Addressing “Digital transformation day of the banking sector ” in Hanoi, Chinh, who is also head of the National Committee on Digital Transformation , stressed that the sector has played a significant role in national digital transformation. Vietnam using autonomy mechanism to revolutionize universities

(Photo: SGGP) Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son reported that with the implementation of Resolution No. 77/NQ-CP on piloting renovation of operation mechanism for public higher education institutions from 2014-2017, higher educational facilities have made great strides in opening up resources and the capacity of training institutions has been maximized. Currently, 142/232 universities are eligible for autonomy according to the provisions of the revised Higher Education Law. Thanks to this autonomy mechanism, piloting universities can attract more capable lecturers and researchers, with the percentage of those owning a doctorate degree reaching 31 percent in 2021. In the four years from 2018, the average salary of employees in these universities rose by 18.7-20.8 percent.
