Millions of children, including those in Vietnam, are victims of physical, sexual, and emotional violence in families, schools, and the internet. The Vietnamese Government has been making unremitting efforts to end violence against women and children over the past years, paying special attention to the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on people. Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Nguyen Thi Ha made the statement at the launching ceremony for the Blue Heart Campaign 2022 held in Hanoi on July 5. Do Thi Thu Hoai, an employee in Phu Tho province, said: “I have been working at this company here for five years, but the allowances have remained the same for me. “I see that several other companies provide an amount for accommodation support, but here we don’t receive any.” Each month, she receives her base salary of VND4.4 million (US$188), alongside the allowances of VND300,000 for diligent attendance, VBD150,000 for fuel charges, and VND30,000 for female employees. The government in late March issued a decision to grant a financial support package of VND6.6 trillion ($287.4 million) to help migrant workers pay rent for up to three months. The package is to be given to 3.4 million people by mid-August. As approved by the government, each worker will receive VND500,000-1 million per month over no more than three months.
