The bodybuilding team of eight men and one woman were set to fly home from the Vietnamese capital Hanoi just as they should have been competing for medals. An official said the Philippines had not provided sufficient evidence that the athletes had done doping tests three weeks in advance. Lorelei Rose Pedrano Deloria, who should have been competing on Sunday in the mixed pairs, said that she and her team-mates' dreams had been shattered and they were "depressed" as a result. "We were super-excited about this (the Games). It was an opportunity to represent the country and bring honor to our country," the 29-year-old told AFP at their hotel. "We weren't able to compete. Vietnam Airlines suffers $113mn Q1 loss despite revenue surge
National carrier Vietnam Airlines remained in the red in the first quarter of this year, with losses of nearly US$113 million, despite its revenue rising to a two-year high. The airline posted a loss of VND2.621 trillion ($112.9 million) over the first three months of 2022, according to its Q1 consolidated financial statements issued on Friday. The loss was recorded even though the flag carrier logged revenue of more than VND11.6 trillion ($500 million) in the period, up 55 percent year on year, the highest performance since the second quarter of 2020, when COVID-19 began to severely affect Vietnam’s aviation industry. The impressive revenue failed to cover the total cost that was higher than expected, leading to the firm’s ninth consecutive quarterly loss, the carrier said. The airline's revenue recovered, but its equity was still VND2.16 trillion as of March 31, 2022 In the revenue structure, domestic transportation revenue grew by 96.5 per cent and international transportation increased by 71 per cent. State budget overspending equivalent to 3.44 percent of GDP in 2020

It was 18.39 trillion VND and 151.89 trillion VND lower than the initial estimate and the permissible level set by the National Assembly , respectively. Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc revealed the figures while reporting on the 2020 State budget balance to the 15th National Assembly at the third session that opened on May 23. It comprised nearly 213.09 trillion VND in the central budget overspending and 3.32 trillion VND in local budget overspending. Phoc added more than 1.51 quadrillion VND was collected for the State budget in 2020, down 1.9 percent from the target.
