Malaysia to stop building coal plants from 2040

Speaking at a question and answer session of the Malaysian Parliament’s second meeting, Mustapa said the ongoing global energy crisis will accelerate the transition to cleaner energy, adding that Malaysia will improve its renewable energy capacity to fulfill the set targets. A number of renewable energy sources identified for development include hydroelectricity, solar energy, biogas and biomass, he said, noting that battery energy storage technology will also be introduced to ensure quality and guaranteed power supply. PM receives outgoing British ambassador
The PM commended the ambassador’s active contributions to promoting the Vietnam-U.K. strategic partnership in all fields, diplomatic channels and people-to-people exchange. Mentioning the U.K.-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKFTA), Chinh said the deal has played a role in forging the bilateral economic and trade ties, with two-way trade standing at nearly 6.6 billion USD last year, up 17.2% year-on-year. Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and the EU held the 8th Senior Officials' Meeting at the premises of the EU delegation in Kuala Lumpur on August 1. The meeting covered a broad range of issues of mutual interest. They welcomed the upcoming EU-ASEAN Summit as an opportunity to enhance, besides the regional, the bilateral EU-Malaysia relations as well. Foreign Minister holds bilateral meetings on AMM-55 sidelines
At their meeting, FM Son and his New Zealand counterpart Nanaia Mahuta agreed on the need to increase delegation exchanges and the promotion of annual mechanisms, striving for 20% growth in annual two-way trade to match the bilateral Strategic Partnership.
