Doctor warns parents of Japanese encephalitis during summer in northern Vietnam
Parents in northern Vietnam should pay close attention to their children’s health during summertime, as such diseases as Japanese encephalitis can become more common during this time of the year, a Hanoi-based doctor advised. Children often catch mosquito-borne diseases, as well as those transmitted through the digestive and respiratory tracts in summer, Dr. Dao Huu Nam, head of the intensive care unit at the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in Hanoi, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper. Hand, foot, and mouth disease and Japanese encephalitis are among the common illnesses during the season, Nam noted. Additional 1,457 Covid-19 infections confirmed on Saturday
An additional 1,457 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Saturday, raising the national tally to over 10.70 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (370), Nghe An (95), Vinh Phuc (91), Phu Tho (88), and Quang Ninh (61). As of Saturday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.70 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Women of Son La’s border guard hand over house to needy woman
The recipient was Lu Thi Sien in the border village of Phieng Khang of Phieng Pan commune. Sien and her husband have three children. Their families depend on farming produce, while Sien is always in poor health condition. Although their house was downgraded, they could not afford to repair or re-build it. Learning Sien’s difficulties, Phieng Pan Border Post and the Women’s Union Organization of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command called on the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province to fund the house construction. Sien’s house was built on an area of 50sq.m at total cost of VND 50 million, of which the Women’s Union Organization of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command donated VND 20 million.
