The current status of Vietnamese universities In the conference, Ms. Mandy Mok, CEO of QS Asia, Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd., presented the Asian University Ranking of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), one of the leading organizations in education rankings. According to this list, Vietnam at the moment has six positions in the Asian Top 400, namely Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Can Tho University; Hue University; Hanoi University of Technology; Da Nang University of Technology. The aim of the MOET is that in 2020, Vietnam will have more than 10 universities in the Asian Top 400 list, about 1 or 2 universities in the Asian Top 100, and about 1 or 2 universities in the World Top 1000. Vietnam has taken up five spots on the list of 350 top Asian universities recently released by British education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds. It is an improvement from last year, when Hanoi's Vietnam National University and Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City were the only two schools from Vietnam named in the list. The Hanoi university is ranked 139th, up 52 spots from 2015, while the Ho Chi Minh City school climbed 54 spots to the 147th position. Each of the universities have several schools of their own offering a wide range of courses from liberal arts to sciences. Can Tho University takes number 251, while Hue University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology share the 301st position. At the QS APPLE International Education Conference recently held in Indonesia, FPT University was the first university of Vietnam to participate in the QS rankings. It was awarded the three-star certification, of which the evaluation of training and social contributions reaches the five-star standard. Earlier, FPT University underwent rigorous testing on a variety of criteria of the organizing board, such as: the quality of teaching, employability of students after graduation, research, internationalization, facility, engagement, accreditation, scholarships and other forms of student support.
