High-quality human resources key to sustainable tourism industry

Speaking at a seminar on August 9 in HCM City, Dr Nguyen Anh Tuan, director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research, said there was a lack of high-quality staff in the industry. Vu The Binh, chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association , said that human resources were a weak point for the industry even before the pandemic. “Efficient, hard-working, and resourceful human resources are the backbone of any successful business. Vietnam, U.N. sign strategic framework for sustainable development cooperation

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, as assigned by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and U.N. Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis, signed the document. The Strategic Framework for Sustainable Development Cooperation 2022 - 2026 guides and steers the Government of Vietnam and the U.N.’s collaboration on accelerating progress to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It highlights the joint commitment to deliver sustainable development for all. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dung said that the CF will be implemented at a time when Vietnam has strengthened its post-pandemic economic recovery, responded to climate change and transitioned to a green, circular economy. NA Standing Committee adopts resolutions on establishment of administrative units

At the NA working session (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee adopted resolutions on the establishment of a town and a township, during its 14th session in Hanoi on August 11. Binh Phu township in Cai Lay district, the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, was formed from Binh Phu commune, with a total area of 19.07 sq.km and a population of more than 18,500. Meanwhile, Chon Thanh town in the southern province of Binh Phuoc was established from Chon Thanh district, covering 390.34 sq.km and with a population of 121,083. In his remarks, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue highlighted rapid urbanisation and great development potential of Chon Thanh, saying the locality should be upgraded to grow further. Thai Airways receives court greenlight for debt restructuring

Thai Airways plane (Source: AFP/VNA) Bangkok (VNA) – The Central Bankruptcy Court of Thailand on September 14 approved a request for a debt restructuring plan of Thai Airways International Plc, the nation’s flagship carrier, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19. Thai Airways reduced its stake in May and went to the insolvency court to resolve its debt, which totalled 332.2 billion (10.6 billion USD) by the end of June, according to local media. The carrier, which reported a loss of nearly 900 million USD in the first quarter of this year, is seeking a loan worth around 1.78 billion USD in the short term to operate and pay for its employees. It is expected to submit the debt restructuring plan by the end of this year.
