This year event drew the participation of 264 teams from 34 nations to compete in 34 events. Its competitions take place in 12 countries, namely Russia, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and Vietnam. It will last till August 27. This was the first time that the Army Games is held in Venezuela, a Latin American nation. The games also witness two new participating countries: Bolivia and Rwanda. The first competition of the “Army of Culture” contingent of Vietnam took place at the Central House of the Russian Armed Forces named after Frunze. In this competition with nine rivals, the Vietnamese artists had the second musical instrument duet performance. In the afternoon the same day, there was a solo competition on the first work. The same day, at Forish training ground in Jizzakh province, Uzbekistan, the Field Kitchen contingent of the Vietnam People’s Army entered the shooting stage of the Field Kitchen event. Vietnam’s rivals are from Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Tajikistan. The Field Kitchen event comprises of three competition stages of shooting in which the combat readiness posture of the cook is checked; cooking and baking of bakery products according to free recipe; and cooking and baking according to the menu. Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, who is head of the organizing panel of the Emergency Area event of the Army Games 2022 in Vietnam, chaired the opening ceremony. The event saw the presence of Deputy Defense Minister of Vietnam Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien; Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs Maj. Gen. The Vietnamese contingent consists of 12 members who are cadets at Zhukovsky Air Force Academy in Voronezh city, Russia. According to the head of the contingent, Staff Sergeant Bui Trong Tien, ten contingents from Vietnam, Russia, Belarus, Cambodia, Abkhazia, Armenia, Mali, Mongolia, Congo, Zimbabwe, and Tajikistan will compete in this year’s special Breakthrough event. Having received instructions on the event’s contents by the organizing panel, participating contingents started practice. The Vietnamese contingent has so far practiced the contents five times.  With their high determination and competence, all members of the Vietnamese contingent are now ready for the competition. The Military Medical Relay Race event was opened at the complex training ground of S. M. Kirov Military Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Apart from participating contingents, the ceremony saw the presence of delegates from the Government of Russia, Saint Petersburg, and the Russian Department of Military Medicine. The organization of the Military Medical Relay Race event aims to improve military medical forces’ skills in terms of treatment, giving first aid, and transporting injured people. Just eight out of fifteen contingents from countries and territories will compete in all contents of this year’s event. They are from Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Myanmar. Russian-born goalkeeper Dang Van Lam will compete for Topenland Binh Dinh FC in Vietnam’s top-tier V-League 1 following the two sides’ deal signing, the football club announced on Monday afternoon. The contract will last for three years. While Lam’s salary was kept undisclosed, sources told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the payment is not less than US$300,000 a year.
