Orbis to assist over 60,000 Mekong Delta children with eye care next year
Can Tho (VNA) – Orbis international organisation will support more than 60,000 children in the Mekong Delta region with eye check-ups and assist over 10,000 students with surgeries under a project slated for next year. Military units launch tree-planting in tribute to Uncle Ho
At the ceremony held by Minh Dam Regiment under the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Military Command, its chief Senior Colonel Nguyen Tam Hung emphasized the importance of planting trees to beautify barracks, create shade for troops during their break-time, contributing to improving troops’ living standard. According to Colonel Hung, this year, the regiment plans to build 3,500 trees. The unit will study to plant fruit and shade trees in the coming time. "It was a fantastic moment. Indonesia has finally won a gold medal in Taekwondo," said the 24-year-old Indonesian photojournalist after the final between Vietnam and Indonesia in the men’s under 63-kilogram weight class at Tay Ho Gymnasium in Hanoi on May 18. The meeting aimed to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the Truong Son – Ho Chi Minh Trail and the Foundation Day of the Truong Son Army Corps (May 19, 1959-2022). At the working session, Senior Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Commander of Army Corps 12 shared that Army Corps 12 is the successor of Corps 559 – Truong Son soldiers. During the 16-year struggle against the U.S imperialists, Truong Son soldiers, together with volunteer youths and the front-line conscripted laborers, overcame numerous difficulties and hardships to build the legendary Truong Son Trail, contributing to liberating the South and unifying the nation.
