The two-week program focused on cooperation activities in health care, the construction of classrooms and climate change response, and art and sport exchanges. HCM City to promote AI in education sector
HCM City will need to promote the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education sector as part of its effort to become a smart city by 2030, experts said. Vietnamese Gov’t targets GDP growth of 7% in 2022
Vietnam’s economy has been firm on the recovery track, with the GDP growth in the second quarter at 7.72% year-on-year, the highest second-quarter growth since 2011. Based on Vietnam’s economic performance in the first six months of the year and expectations for the remainder of 2022, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) expected the economic expansion rate may hit 7% this year, 0.5 percentage points higher than the Government’s target of 6.5%. Ministry proposes to waive all tuition fees for secondary school students
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son At the regular Government meeting in the first six months today, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son proposed the Government issue a Resolution on tuition fees for the 2022-2023 school year so that institutions timely implementation. At the same time, it is proposed that the Government assign the Ministry of Education and Training to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with other ministries and sectors in, amending Decree No. 81/2021/ND-CP (Decree 81) to serve as a legal basis for implementation from the school year 2023- 2024 on tuition-related content. If 5.5 million junior high school students are exempted from tuition fees each with VND2 million, it is estimated that the state budget will compensate VND11,199.8 billion annually. Corruption accused must pay full compensation for amnesty consideration
At a Monday ceremony on this year's amnesty, Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said criminals that "violated economic management orders and misused their positions" must "complete their civil responsibilities" before they could be considered for amnesty on National Day (Sep. 2) this year. This is the second year in a row that Phuc would grant amnesty, and also the second where those accused of corruption must have compensated for their crimes before they could be considered for amnesty. Vietnam has had six amnesty occasions from 2009 to 2016, with around 90,000 prisoners released early. Those eligible for this year's amnesty on National Day are those serving timed sentences, those who've had life sentences reduced to time sentences, and those who've had their prison sentences suspended.
