The museum was constructed under the ‘Art in the Forest’ project, which has been held over the past six years and has attracted dozens of celebrated painters and sculptors both from home and abroad. The project was first developed in 2015 with an aim of bringing contemporary art closer to the community, thus raising the public capacity for aesthetic appreciation. It has received an enthusiastic response from contemporary artists, including Ly Truc Son, Nguyen Xuan Tiep, Nguyen Son, Bui Hai Son, Le Lang Luong, Ddam Dang Lai and Khong Do Tuyen. It has also gathered outstanding figures from the worlds of painting and sculpture from Canada, the US, France, Japan, Italy, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Spain.
