Vinaconex Water Supply Jsc (Viwasupco) reported revenues of almost VND264 billion ($11.43 million) and a gross profit of VND151 billion ($6.51 million) in the first half of this year, a 57 percent gross profit margin. It has seen steady growth since 2012 with demand for water rising as the Hanoi population surges with urbanization. Over the next six years its pretax profits almost quadrupled. Revenues from supplying tap water last year were worth VND469 billion ($20.31 million), while pretax profits were over VND230 billion ($9.96 million). With an equity of almost VND1 trillion ($43.31 million), the company has a return on equity ratio of 24 percent, among the highest of any listed company. Service sector sees biggest increase after GDP recalculation
It was followed by the industry and construction sector, up VND211-555 trillion ($9.09-23.91 billion) a year. The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector rose VND25-46 trillion ($1.08-1.98 billion) per year. After revising its GDP methodology to match international standards, the agriculture, forestry and fisher sector’s GDP contribution decreased from 17.4 percent to 14.7 percent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). The industry and construction sectors grew from 33 percent to 34 percent of GDP, while the service grew from 39.2 percent to 41.2 percent. With the revised methodology, Vietnam formally raised its GDP by an average 25.4 percent for the 2010-2017 period. The squad for the AFC U23 Championship in January 2020 announced by coach Park Hang-seo on December 12 comprise three goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders and four strikers. They include most of the SEA Games winners except for midfielders Do Hung Dung and Nguyen Trong Hoang, who are over the age limit and defender Doan Van Hau who has returned to his Dutch club SC Heerenveen.
