China-based electronics company Xiaomi has made investments into manufacturing smartphone components in Vietnam as part of its plan to compete against market leader Samsung of the Republic of Korea (RoK), according to Japan’s news service Nikkei Asia. The Japanese newswire reported that Xiaomi plans to meet growing local demand for smartphones and will continue to support exports to Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Thailand. Pandaily, a tech media based in Beijing, also stated that Xiaomi is in the process of working with Chinese electronics manufacturing company DBG Technology, which runs a 200,000 square metre factory in Vietnam. The same factory will also produce data transmission equipment and circuit substrates. Until recently Xiaomi had only been focused on producing smartphones in China and India. The new Vietnamese facility of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will be a hub for exports to neighboring Southeast Asia countries, including Malaysia and Thailand. Chinese handset maker Xiaomi has begun smartphone production in Vietnam by DBG Technology, a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s DBG Electronics Investment Limited, at a factory in Vietnam's Northern Province of Thai Nguyen . Xiaomi’s new production facility is located in Vietnam's Northern Province of Thai Nguyen. DBG Technology said that the new Vietnam facility is a hub for exports to neighboring Southeast Asia countries, including Malaysia and Thailand. Deputy defense minister inspects GDTS’s affiliates
During the visit to Depot KT580, the deputy defense minister was reported on the unit’s task performance in the first six months of this year. In particular, the depot arranged weapons and technical equipment as planned, ensured electricity, lightning protection systems, carried out training programs, and organized examinations for its non-commissioned officers to review their qualifications and vocational skills. According to Do, just a handful of projects launched during the 2017-2020 entrepreneurship wave were able to establish themselves in the international market. Speaking at the Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2022 last week in Hanoi, Caitlin Wiesen, resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, suggested that the country needs to further promote renewable energy production. “We know that the cost of renewable energy has dropped dramatically, by 89 per cent over the past 10 years, and solar is currently the cheapest source of electricity,” she explained. In just five years, Vietnam has scaled up its solar capacity from virtually zero to over 16,000MW by 2022, far exceeding national targets, Wiesen added. “Vietnam also has rich wind power potential, especially offshore wind, with more than 3,200km of coastline,” she said.
