At the Saigon Autotech & Accessories 2018 (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Saigon Autotech & Accessories 2019 expo is set to take place during May 23-26, 2019 at Ho Chi Minh City’s Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre. The event will be held by Asia Trade Fair and Business Promotion (ATFA), in collaboration with the industry agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries. According to the ATFA, it will host more than 500 booths of over 300 businesses and is expected to attract some 15,000 visitors. Documentary on Agent Orange to be screened in Japan
A documentary entitled “Long Time Passing” featuring a victim of Agent Orange (AO) living in Vietnam will be available in theatres in Tokyo from August 20. The film will be screened in Japan from August 20. (Photo: Japan Times) The film by Japanese director Masako Sakata depicts the daily life of Tran Thi Hoan, a young woman born without legs and one of her hands as her mother had been exposed to the toxic chemical in a field during her pregnancy. It also features the difficulty of many other AO victims and a court battle in France by a former journalist against US chemical firms that manufactured AO used in the war. Sakata went to Vietnam in 2004 to learn about the consequences of the toxic chemical and made the first film on the matter. Her husband died nearly two decades ago as a result of his exposure to the AO during military service in Vietnam. Japanese delegation shares difficulties with Vietnamese AO victims
VAVA Chairman Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh and officials of the Vietnamese association received the Japanese delegation. On this occasion, the delegation learned about the activities of the VAVA over the past time, and expressed their hope to continue to stand side by side and share difficulties with Agent Orange/dioxin victims, as well as overcoming the consequences of toxic chemicals during the war in Vietnam. Vietnam consults WB experts about National Master Planning
He made the statement in Hanoi on August 16 at a seminar consulting the World Bank (WB)’s experts about a report on the National Master Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. The National Master Planning is the first of its kind in Vietnam made in line with the 2017 Planning Law. Between now and 2030, priority will be given to the establishment and development of economic corridors, locomotive zones, growth poles and national infrastructure framework, especially those with advantages in geological location, infrastructure, human resources and sci-tech potential. Dannay Leipziger, head of the WB experts’ group, suggested that the National Master Planning should take into account improving resilience to environment risks and climate change, and ensuring financial resources for the effort. Vietnam keen on Israel’s experience in fields of strength

He suggested the two countries regularly maintain high-level visits and offer mutual support at international forums and organisations.
