On January 31 this year, Pham Tuan, 30, saw a 21-year-old epileptic who begged for a living, near his house and tried to rape her on the street in the central province, the prosecution said. She resisted, had an epileptic fit and passed out. Tuan stole VND120,000 ($5) from her and threw her into a river fearing she would complain to the police if she came to. But he left behind his footwear and a stolen phone at the scene. RoK police pledge to look into violence against Vietnamese woman

Min Gap-ryong, commissioner general of the Korean National Police Agency, made the remarks during his talks with Public Security Minister To Lam in Seoul on July 8, according to Yonhap news agency. The case made headlines in both countries over the weekend, after a video went viral of a 36-year-old Korean man punching and kicking his Vietnamese wife in the presence of their two-year-old son. Vietnam’s ‘Little Mermaid’ named best woman athlete at SEA Games
Vien, nicknamed "Little Mermaid," received a trophy at the closing ceremony of the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines on Wednesday. The 23-year-old from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho shared the spotlight with fellow swimmer, Singapore's Quah Zheng Wen, who was named the best male athlete with exactly the same medal tally as Vien. In the two previous games, Vien, a captain in the army, had won eight gold medals each. She had set her sights on a similar tally this year but narrowly missed it, winning silver medals in 50 m backstroke and 800 m freestyle. Vietnamese woman suspected killed in UK truck disaster
Pham Van Thin, of Can Loc District in the central Ha Tinh Province, sent a letter Friday to the People's Committee of Nghen Town, saying his daughter was likely one of the 39 people found dead in a container truck in the Waterglade Industrial Park, Grays Town. "My daughter, Pham Thi Tra My, left Vietnam on October 3, 2019, then travelled to China, France and England," Thin wrote in the letter, which had My’s photo attached. She was described as 1.5 meters tall and weighing around 46 kilograms. Thin asked the Nghen People's Committee to verify that he is My’s father, in order to initiate legal procedures to identify and bring his daughter’s body back to Vietnam. Woman jailed in Hanoi for procuring sex workers for South Korean men
Nguyen Thi Chang, 27, was apprehended last October after officers caught two women having sex with Korean men in a hotel. The four of them told the police that Chang was the pimp. Chang told the police she was working at Bomul Seoum Karaoke in Nam Tu Liem District. Kim Hack Bong, 45, a South Korean man, has been running this place since last January, she said. Chang was in charge of managing women employees and guest reception at the place. The employees were divided into two groups, one willing to have sex with customers and the other not willing. Those who consented could do so after working hours. Kim told the police he only kept track of guest reception preparation and money management.
