Professsor Phan Văn Tường, talks to the newspaper Thời báo Kinh tế Việt nam (Việt Nam Economic Times) about the importance of good time management in running a business What are the weakest points in the management work within many Vietnamese enterprises? I have been living and working in Việt Nam for many years, so I should say that many major Vietnamese enterprises have performed quite well in their management activities. These achievements have been acknowledged by foreign enterprises. The most noticeable achievement is that the young Vietnamese labour force has been well trained, and they have worked very hard, on the other hand, a number of enterprises have been rated average in their management activities. Houses in Giang Hao township in southern Bac Lieu province damaged by the tropical storm Linda in 1997. Linda was considered one of the strongest storms to ever hit Vietnam. (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Participants to a conference in Hanoi on February 26-27 agreed on the need for countries worldwide in general and Vietnam in particular to enhance weather forecast capacity by embracing new technology. They heard that despite advancements in technology, weather forecasters around the world struggle to predict the intensity of emerging storms. Only factors like timing, the relative path and the landing site of a typhoon have been predicted relatively accurately. In the case of Vietnam, a country that was hit with 16 typhoons in 2017 alone and is predicted to be among the countries most impacted by climate change, the failure to accurately gauge the power of storms might lead to devastating consequences – both in terms of human lives and economic damage. Measurements suggest air pollution in Hanoi is more related to industrial activites than its heavy traffic. Photo by VnExpress/Tr. Phan Hanoi was persistently choking during the first half of this year when its people were only able to inhale “acceptable” air for one and a half days every week, a study has found. Ambient air pollution in the capital between January and June exceeded international standards for 139 days, or 23 percent of the time, according to a new report released by the Hanoi-based Green Innovation and Development Center (GreenID) at the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. The pollution is measured by the concentration of particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) which is released from vehicles, industry and natural sources like dust. PM2.5, which is equal to just a fraction of the width of human hair, can get into the lungs and cause a number of diseases, including lung cancer. The safe concentration … [Read more...] about Hanoi air is unsafe most of the time, experts blame coal power plants
