From the beginning of 2022 to now, the whole city has implemented 328 sanctioning decisions according to Decree No.117/2020/ND-CP for places that let generate lots of mosquito larvae and mosquitoes capable of causing dengue fever. The sanctioning has been drastically implemented by local authorities in July and the first half of August. Specifically, 199 places in July and 74 places in August were sanctioned. Economists and analysts said they believe Chinese authorities are keen to support the sluggish economy by allowing a widening policy divergence with other major economies that are raising interest rates aggressively. The People's Bank of China (PBOC) said it was lowering the rate on 400 billion yuan ($59.33 billion) of one-year medium-term lending facility (MLF) loans to some financial institutions by 10 basis points (bps) to 2.75%, from 2.85%. In a poll of 32 market watchers last week, all respondents had forecast the MLF rate would be left unchanged and 29 had predicted there would be a partial rollover. Vietnam pilots passion fruit exports to China
Product quarantine Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s (MARD) Plant Protection Department said China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) had approved imports of Vietnamese passion fruit through seven border crossings in China’s Guangxi Province, including Huu Nghi Quan, Po Chai, Pingxiang Railway Station, Pingxiang, Dongxing, Long Bang, and Shuikou. A series of activities have been planned to promote the speedy export of passion fruit to China The two sides will assess the results of the pilot project and decide whether to sign an official protocol on plant quarantine for Vietnamese passion fruit imported into China, contributing to the development of trade between the two countries. Egyptian church fire kills at least 41, most of them children
An electrical fire swept through an Egyptian Coptic Christian church during Mass on Sunday, causing a stampede and killing at least 41 people, most of them children and many suffering from smoke inhalation. The blaze started just before 9 a.m. in the Abu Sifin church in the city of Giza where about up to 1,000 people had gathered. The fire blocked an entrance to the church, causing the stampede, the two sources said, adding that most of those killed were children. "People were gathering on the third and fourth floor, and we saw smoke coming from the second floor. People rushed to go down the stairs and started falling on top of each other," said worshipper Yasir Munir.
