CANES — The Cannes film festival opened last night with one of the glitziest line-ups in years as Hollywood stars and studios return in strength to the world's biggest film jamboree. Spanish star Javier Bardem and French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg declared the 12-day marathon open, before sitting down to watch the first movie -- The Dead Don't Die -- with it's small army of A-list stars led by Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny, Tilda Swinton and pop idol Selena Gomez. The cast of the zombie flick send-up of Donald Trump's America by arthouse favourite Jim Jarmusch also takes in Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover and music legends Iggy Pop, Tom Waits and Wu-Tang Clan guru RZA. Singer My Tam has been named ambassador of the Gong Cha bubble tea brand in Viet Nam. – VNS Photo Courtesy Gong Cha Vietnam Golden Trust Company Ltd has named pop star My Tam as the ambassador for its bubble tea brand Gong Cha in Viet Nam. My Tam, born in 1981 in Da Nang, is a diva whose long and storied career has been free of scandal. For years she has been among the singers with the largest fan base in Viet Nam. She has won many top Vietnamese and international awards like the 2014 Top Asia Corporate Ball in Malaysia and the famous “Lan Song Xanh” prize for singer of the year for three consecutive years. In January 2018 Tam became the first Vietnamese singer having her album listed to the top 10 Billboard World Album. The singer will compete with five others from Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore via the website asia.mtvema.com. The nominees were chosen based on their professional activities, including record sales, frequency of appearances on radio and television, online watching and listening, popularity on social media, and ticket sales. Votes for the Best Southeast Asia Act award will be taken through MTV EMA networks, including websites, Facebook and mobile applications.
