Last month saw the lowest extent of Antarctic sea ice on record for July, according to the European Union's satellite monitoring group. The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) found Antarctic sea ice extent reached 15.3 million square kilometres (5,900,000 square miles) -- some 1.1 million km2, or seven percent, below the 1991-2020 average for July. This was the lowest ice cover for July since satellite records began 44 years ago, and followed record low Antarctic sea ice levels for June too. C3S said the low ice values continued a string of below-average monthly extents observed since February 2022. The service said in its monthly bulletin the Southern Ocean saw "widespread areas of below-average sea ice concentration" last month. Arctic sea ice cover meanwhile was four percent lower than average, making it the 12th lowest July sea ice extent on record. In a month that saw temperature records broken across parts of northern Europe and Britain, C3S said July was drier … [Read more...] about Lowest July Antarctic sea ice on record: monitor

Vietnam’s manufacturing output continues an upward trend in July
Manufacturers remained optimistic that production will increase in the next 12 months. The S&P Global Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) remained above the 50.0 no-change mark for the tenth successive month at 51.2 in July, signaling a further strengthening of business conditions. A reading below the 50 neutral marks indicates no change from the previous month, while a reading below 50 indicates contractions, and above 50 points means an expansion, according to S&P Global. New orders increased for the tenth month running, but the rate of expansion eased to the weakest since April. New export business rose solidly, meanwhile, and at a faster pace than total new orders. The continued growth of new orders encouraged manufacturers to keep expanding production in July. Output rose for the fourth successive month. That said, the rate of expansion was only marginal and the softest in the current sequence of growth amid signs of demand … [Read more...] about Vietnam’s manufacturing output continues an upward trend in July
Thailand aims for biggest tiger population in Southeast Asia by 2034
Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand is aiming to become the leading Southeast Asian nation in terms of the size of its tiger population by 2034. During an event commemorating International Tiger Day on July 29, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa said the kingdom was praised by neighbouring countries at the 4th Asia Ministerial Conference on Tiger Conservation for its efficient wildlife conservation efforts. According to the Natural Resources and Environment Minister, the tiger population in the Thungyai and Huai Kha Khaeng wildlife sanctuaries increased from 42 in 2012 to 100 in 2022 as a result of a smart patrol system and technology certified by international standards. Laws need amending for real estate projects
Illustrative photo. In these documents HoREA has asked for consideration in removing some bottlenecks and obstacles facing 116 real estate and commercial housing projects. The obstacles are related to many legal regulations, such as the Law on Housing 2014, Law on Real Estate Business 2014, Law on Land 2013, and Law on Construction 2014. Although the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has directed relevant departments, branches, districts, as well as Thu Duc City authorities to coordinate and consider proposals to resolve many pending issues, it seems that it is still very difficult to follow up on projects without amending the Laws. Shortcomings in Land Law After ten years of taking effect, the 2013 Land Law still shows many shortcomings, especially in the auction of land use rights. Regulations on the auction of land use rights are stipulated in many documents of various Laws, Government decrees, decisions of the Prime Minister, joint circulars between ministries and … [Read more...] about Laws need amending for real estate projects
