A ceremony of receiving and planting 24 cherry blossom trees The ceremony is an activity in a framework of the "Meeting Gia Lai – Japan 2022" program and under events to mark the 90th founding anniversary of Gia Lai Province, contributing to tightening friendship and solidarity between the two countries. Accordingly, the People’s Committee of Pleiku City coordinated with Japan - Vietnam Exchange Center and Center for Foreign Service and International Conference to organize the ceremony. I confess I’m a soup lover, yet another reason for Vietnam to be at the top of my list of foodie destinations since there is no shortage of options day or night. The beauty is although the common Vietnamese soups share the same name and unique place of origin, the ingredients and preparation are different depending on local tastes in each region as well as what’s readily available and fresh. Da Lat is a destination that’s on nearly everyone’s list and the city features unique and delicious food, but, like anywhere, the best hideaways aren’t always easy to find. These places aren’t found in foodie blogs nor in tourist magazines – their success is strictly based on word-of-mouth. They’re makeshift, worn and old, a couple don’t even have addresses, and popular among locals but otherwise not well known. Leaving the gloomy and drizzling days behind, Hanoi has re-encountered its usual summer vibrancy with purple Lagerstroemia blossoming all over the streets. Every May, many streets of Hanoi are tinged with the romantic purple Lagerstroemia, indicating that summer has come. The purple flowering tree that is better known as “the Pride of India” was planted extensively on the streets of Hanoi in the 1980s. For over twenty years now, the graceful flower has still dyed the streets purple every summer. Along with red flamboyant, the beauty of purple Lagerstroemia has starred in many poems and songs-themed students. The flowers only bloom in the summer, signaling the end of the school year and evoking the sadness of seeing off before the summer break among the teenagers.
