Built in the sixth century, Tran Quoc pagoda is the most ancient of the 600 or so pagodas and temples in the capital city. The pagoda sits on an islet within West Lake in Tay Ho district. Students at the English class (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Dozens of local children and adolescents were eagerly learning and practicing English activities with their foreign and Vietnamese teachers in an English class on Sunday morning in Phap Van pagoda in Hanoi’s Hoang Mai district. The class is remarkable in that students learn English for fun, rather than for an examination, meanwhile their parents are not having to spend money. The Happy Class, launched in July 2017, aims to offer an English practicing playground for kids whose parents are unable to afford expensive English courses. Hanoi to host 16th meeting of Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia
Hanoi will host the 16th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) between September 5 and 10. Visitors at One-Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi Participants of the event are representatives from CPTA member cities, including Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi (India), Jakarta (Indonesia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Metropolitan Manila (the Philippines), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Taipei (Taiwan – China), and Tomsk (Russia). The meeting is set to review cooperative activities implemented during the past years and design plans to carry out new projects. Participant will define responsibilities of state tourism management agencies and municipal governments, as well as tourism agencies and businesses in developing tourism in CPTA member cities. The planning task, recently approved by the Prime Minister, includes researching, surveying and assessing the relic site’s situation; specifying priority issues, along with viewpoints and short- and long-term targets of the relic site master plan; and making orientations for the preservation and promotion of the site’s values.
