Buenos Aires (VNA) – Newly-accredited Ambassador of Vietnam to Argentina Duong Quoc Thanh on March 2 presented a letter of credentials to President Alberto Fernandez who showed his belief that the ambassador will make contributions to developing the two countries’ relations.

Expressing his honour to be the Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina, Thanh extended Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong’s greetings to the Argentine President and his spouse as well as the Argentine Government and people.

He affirmed he will do his utmost to boost bilateral friendship and cooperation in politics, economy, culture, and science and technology.

He briefed the host on Vietnam’s recent socio-economic achievements and the outcomes of the recent 13th National Party Congress with major targets and orientations for national development in the new era.

President Fernandez appreciated Vietnam ’s economic development achievements, affirming that the country’s success in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is a bright spot and experience for many nations around the world.

He confirmed Vietnam is one of Argentina’s important partners in the Asia-Pacific region and believed the bilateral comprehensive cooperation will develop further in the future./.

China’s General Secretary Xi welcomes Vietnamese Party chief’s special envoy in Beijing

A special envoy of Vietnamese Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong has arrived in Beijing to congratulate General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping on his appointment, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

General Secretary Xi received Hoang Binh Quan, head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and special envoy of General Secretary Trong, in the Chinese capital on Monday.

During the meeting, Quan conveyed the Vietnamese Party chief’s congratulations on the success of the CPC’s 19th Congress and Xi’s re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee for its 19th tenure.

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China took place from October 18 to 24 in Beijing.

Seven members of the CPC Politburo Standing Committee were then announced, including Xi, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, and Han Zheng.

The Vietnamese official hoped that both countries could strive to further develop their traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as its nucleus, the Party, State and people of China could successfully achieve goals set by the 19th Congress and make greater achievements in the cause of building and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Quan affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam treasured the development of neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation with China, hoping that both sides would join hands to realize the common perceptions reached by the two Parties and countries’ leaders.

Vietnam appreciates and welcomes the upcoming state visit by General Secretary Xi and his attendance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week, which will take place in the central city of Da Nang from November 6 to 11, he added.

Replying to his guest, General Secretary Xi said the CPC and himself also treasured their ties with Vietnam.

He expressed his support for Vietnam’s successful hosting of the APEC summit week and extended his regards to General Secretary Trong and other Party and State leaders.

Digital conversion a breakthrough in education development: Minister

This was affirmed by Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha during a working session between a working group of the Prime Minister, led by Minister cum Head of Government Office Mai Tien Dung, and MOET leaders on the implementation of assigned tasks related to e-Government development and administrative procedural reform in the education sector.

At the meeting, Dung, who is also head of the working group of the Prime Minister, hailed the achievements of the education sector in recent years, especially the efforts and creativity to perform tasks amid the COVID-19 epidemic, quickly shifting to online learning, adjusting the school year timeline and organising a safe and quality high school graduation exam.

Dung urged the ministry and the education sector to continue to perform their tasks regarding the quantity and quality of teachers, compliance with new textbooks, university autonomy, e-government development and boosting administrative reform to save time and costs in administrative procedures within the sector.

Minister Nha said that 2020 is a special year for the education and training sector due to the impact of COVID-19 and the continuous storms and prolonged flooding in the central region. The sector has tried its best to perform its tasks, with some of the tasks having been completed others still in progress, he said.

Referring to the reform of administrative procedures and e-government, the education minister affirmed that this task is a focus of his ministry and the whole education sector.

The MOET will review all unrealised tasks, restructure administrative procedures towards digitalisation and promote the construction of e-government in the education sector, as well as providing public services on the National Public Service Portal to benefit students and their parents, Nha affirmed.

The ministry has also developed plans and received the support of the Ministry of Information and Communications, as well as a number of tech groups to develop digital transformation plans in the sector in order to spur perform digital transformation, towards making breakthroughs in the development of human resources and training in the sector.
