Man saving toddler from falling death awarded merit certificate

Chairman of Hanoi City’s People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh on March 01, 2021 promptly signed Decision No. 995/QD-UBND on granting the award. A letter from Hanoi Party Secretary Vuong Dinh Hue also acknowledged Nguyen Ngoc Manh’s brave act.

On the evening of February 28, the unsupervised toddler named N.P.H climbed over the balcony of her family’s home on the 13th floor of Nguyen Huy Tuong Apartment Complex, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi. She managed to grab the railings but let go just several seconds after.

At the time, Nguyen Ngoc Manh, who was on a courier run in the complex, spotted the girl and quickly climbed onto the first floor’s roof to catch her.

The girl was rushed to the hospital where X-ray results showed she had a dislocated hip joint and several broken bones, but no further trauma.

Hanoi authorities have praised and rewarded a man who saved a baby girl after she fell from the 12th floor of an apartment building in the city on February 28.

Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue sent a letter to 31-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Manh to compliment his braveness and quick action that saved a baby girl who fell from the 60B Apartment Building on Nguyen Huy Tuong Street. In the letter, he praised Manh’s kindness and believed that such spirit and kindness would contribute to community development.

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh also praised Manh and gave him a certificate of merit for his action. Manh would be rewarded with VND4.47m (USD193) from the city.

On February 28, a three-year-old girl climbed out of the balcony of an apartment on the 12th floor of the 60B Apartment Building. Other residents in the opposite building saw her and screamed out. At the time, Manh was waiting for customers at the location. He heard the screams and climbed onto the metal roof on the ground floor to try to catch the baby.

The baby hung on the balcony for a few seconds before she fell down. Luckily, Manh was able to catch her. Manh had a sprain and the baby dislocated her hip but is in stable health.

Situated on a large lake, the Venada restaurant covers 1,050 square metres and stands 15.85 metres tall. It is built from 36 bamboo frames that form a three-storey dome with the largest roof radius of 18.3 metres.

The lake plays an important role in regulating the temperature for the restaurant and serves as a reservoir that stores rainwater running down from the nearby mountains, which is used to irrigate the 16.4-hectare site.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor spaces that bring different experiences for diners.

The structure has overcome nearly 1,000 entries of more than 500 enterprises from over 20 countries and territories in the world to win the Grand Prize at the 11th Yuanye Awards.

Established in 2010 in China, Yuanye Awards honours outstanding works and designers as well as encourage exchanges between different countries.
