Yulo, the two-time world champion, opened the day’s competition at Quần Ngựa Sports Palace with an electrifying performance in floor exercise, the event he won the 2019 Worlds. He grabbed 15.200 points for his second gold of the meet, highlighting his all-around triumph. Singapore’s Terry Tay Wei An took silver (14.033) and Vietnamese Trịnh Hải Khang bagged the bronze (14.000). SEA Games 31: Vietnam bags 88 gold medals as of May 16

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has so far obtained 197 medals, including 88 golds, at the ongoing SEA Games 31 , topping the tally and leaving other competitors far behind. On May 16 alone, Vietnam ese athletes secured 20 gold medals, including five in Pencak Silat, four in athletics, four in Taekwondo, two in gymnastics, and two in swimming. Meanwhile, cycling, fencing and shooting each won one gold medal on the day. In addition, Vietnam has by May 16 earned a total of 54 silver and 55 bronze medals at the Games. (Photo: VNA) Quang Ninh – Athlete Pham Tien San won the first gold medal in Duathlon for Vietnam at the 31st SEA Games on May 15 on Tuan Chau beach in the northern province of Quang Ninh. San finished first in the competition with a time of 1:55:58. Ferbriade Rudi and Johan Jauhari, both of Indonesia, secured the silver and bronze medals a time of 1:56:12 and 1:57: 36, respectively. 31-year-old San had won three silver medals at SEA Games held in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Thirteen male athletes from seven regional countries took part in the event. The Duathlon event at SEA Games 31 has two sets of medals for men's and women's individual events. He pulled a snatch of 132kg and a clean jerk of 154kg, registering a total of 286kg. Eko Yuli Irawan of Indonesia gained a total 290kg to win gold and Aznit Bin Bidin Muhamad of Malaysia secured the silver medal with 287kg. On May 20, Vietnamese weightlifters Nguyen Thu Hien and Hoang Thi Duyen will compete at the women’s 55kg and 59kg, respectively, while Dinh Xuan Hoang is to represent Vietnam at the men’s 67kg. Ngo Thi Phuong Nga defeated Rosalina Simanjuntak from Indonesia 2-0 in the finals of the women’s 52kg. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy outlasted Indonesia’s Melisa Try Andani with a similar score to champion the women’s 56kg. Nguyen Thi Trang bagged another gold after winning 2-1 against a Myanmar opponent in the women’s 60kg.
