SEA Games 31: Vietnam pocket five medals in gymnastics

Malaysian athletes, Tan Fu Jie and Muhammad Sharul Aimy, brought home silver and bronze medals, respectively, in this category. The May 15 event took place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962) and 45 years of the signing of the Laos - Vietnam Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977). The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Office of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee are the main investors of the project. The park is located at Dong Mak Khai which is planned to be turned into a large urban centre of Vientiane capital city. It is a symbol of the special solidarity and close-knit ties between Vietnamese and Lao Parties, States and peoples, said Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung at the ceremony. SEA Games 31: Vietnam wins fourth gold medal in fencing
On May 16, fencers contributed four gold and three bronze medals to the Vietnamese sport delegation at SEA Games 31. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese fencers on May 16 won the fourth medal at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) in the men’s sabre team event. The Vietnamese team, including Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Xuan Loi, Nguyen Van Quyet, and substitute To Duc Anh, defeated the Thai team 45-28 to bag the gold medal. In the women’s epee team event, Vu Thi Hong and her teammates failed to reach the final round and shared the bronze medal with the Philippine team. Khanh Hoa rescuers save two foreigners with multiple injuries at sea

(Photo: SGGP) Around 6 p.m. on May 16, two Filipino nationals, Villacencio Andrillo Baselote, 35, and Hamodiong Cresente JR. Salem, 31, were brought to the mainland by the SAR-01 ship of the Khanh Hoa Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, then were transferred to the hospital. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Director of the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 4, said that these two people were crewmen on a coal-carrying ship of Greek nationality.
