Vietnamese, Hungarian top legislators hold talks

Welcoming the Vietnamese top legislator and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Hungary, Kövér affirmed that Hungary considers Vietnam an important partner in Southeast Asia. He highlighted that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have been tested in difficult times during COVID-19 period. He thanked the Vietnamese N.A. for giving Australia sincere support in the first days of COVID-19 outbreak. N.A. Chairman Hue congratulated Hungary on the successful organization of the parliamentary election in April, as well as Kövér on being elected as the Speaker of the Hungarian N.A. for the fourth time. The talk show on Innovative Solutions & Substitutes for Single-use Plastic towards Green Consumption The talk show saw the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIt), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE), and three major retailers in Vietnam. The participants discussed innovative and sustainable solutions for substitutes for single-use plastics. They also highlighted existing consumption habits and their future plans which will contribute to the promotion of sustainable consumption. During the discussion, Vu Minh Ly, deputy director of the Communication Center for Environmental Resources at MoNRE mentioned a new highlight in plastic waste management. The revised Law on Environmental Protection (LEP) 2020 considers waste a form of resource, which is a groundbreaking new approach to waste management. The action plan was released at the end of 2019, and more businesses than ever are initiating cleaner strategies and methods, as heard at a talk show on Innovative Solutions and Substitutes for Single-use Plastic towards Green Consumption, hosted by VIR. Vietnam and Hungary established diplomatic relations on February 3, 1950 and lifted their ties to comprehensive partnership on the occasion of a visit by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the European nation in 2018.
