Mr. Marc Knapper on January 4 was sworn in as the new US Ambassador to Vietnam during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the US Department of State. A photo of the inauguration ceremony was shared by the US Embassy in Hanoi on the morning of January 4. The ceremony took place more than two weeks after Mr. Knapper was approved by the US Senate to become the 8th US Ambassador to Vietnam since the two countries normalized diplomatic relations in 1995. The State budget deficit was below 4% of GDP in 2021. The shipment of nearly 75 million doses to Việt Nam from various sources accounts for about 40 per cent of all vaccines in the country.
