During the reception, Mr. Nhan appreciated Prince Andrew’s visit when both countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, considering it a message showing the UK Government’s and Royal Family’s respect for the Vietnam - UK bilateral relationship. Asserting that the bilateral relationship is developing well, Mr. Nhan noted that the Ho Chi Minh city - UK trade turnover reached USD795 million in 2017. There are currently 146 UK projects worth USD556 million in the city. During an interview with the Saigon Times, Kitnikone said bilateral trade between Vietnam and Canada is in a favorable position, with Vietnam being Canada’s largest trading partner in Southeast Asia. Two-way trade has been increasing 16% year-on-year for the last two years. “We are happy with this figure,” she said. Vietnamese exports to Canada make up around 75% of the bilateral trade. Viet Nam News HCM CITY — There are huge opportunities across ASEAN for mergers and acquisitions in almost every sector, particularly in Việt Nam, though challenges remain like regulatory hassles and how to add value to companies after inking an deal, experts told a seminar on M&A in HCM City on Friday. M&A activities are increasing across Southeast Asia, capitalising on the investment boom in the emerging markets in the region, Theng Bee Han, president of the Malaysia Business Chamber Việt Nam, said. There were a lot of M&A activities in Việt Nam last year, particularly in the real estate sector where transactions amounted to nearly US$1.5 billion, he said. Forum discusses opportunities for businesses in digital economy

(Photo: CPV)This information was revealed in the Businesses in Digital Economy Forum and the launch of Vietnam Business Annual Report 2017/2018, held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 17th, in Hanoi. Dr. Vu Tien Loc, VCCI Chairman, said that economies worldwide are now driving forward by digital technology which should be the top priority in Vietnam. According to reports of Google and Temasek, the digital economy in ASEAN saw breakthrough growth with annual rate of 27% and reached USD50 billion in 2017, accounting for about 2% of regional GDP. This figure is expected to hit 6% in 2025. Sectors which made contributions to the growth are online tourism, e-commerce, media and online entertainment.
