(Photo: NCHMF) Hanoi (VNA) – Typhoon Chaba weakened into a tropical depression on July 3 morning, moving north of northwest with its eye located in the south of China’s Guangxi province, which borders northern Vietnam. At around 4am, its wind speed fell to below 39km per hour, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF). The north-western and north-eastern provinces should expect scattered thunderstorms and downpours, with rainfall from 10 – 30mm, and even 50mm in some locations, on the July 3 evening and night. From July 4 – 7, the north will be likely to see heavy rain , the NCHMF forecast, adding that there is the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds. Vietnam to send 155-strong delegation to 11th ASEAN Para Games

(File photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese delegation to the approaching 11th ASEAN Para Games is set to comprise 155 members, including 122 athletes, according to the National Sports Administration . With 14 sports, the 11th ASEAN Para Games is scheduled to take place in Indonesia from July 26 to August 7. Apart from the 122 athletes, the delegation will also include 18 coaches, two doctors, and 13 cadres. They will compete in eight sports, namely athletics, swimming, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and archery. A Hong Kong lawmaker who met President Xi Jinping during a rare visit by the Chinese leader to the territory last week said he tested positive for COVID-19 two days after the meeting. Steven Ho, who is part of the city's largest pro-Beijing party, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), tested positive for coronavirus on July 2 and has self isolated, according to an announcement on his Facebook page on Sunday. Ho said he tested negative for the virus on June 30, the day he was shown in a photo with Xi, displayed by local broadcaster RTHK . Xi was in Hong Kong to mark the 25th handover celebration of the territory to the mainland from Britain and swear in the city's new leader John Lee. High prices High prices are making Vietnamese seafood products uncompetitive in the 15 member states of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), which came into effect this year. Tran Le Dung, First Secretary in charge of the Vietnam Trade Office in Malaysia, said that in Malaysia, Vietnamese seafood products are sold at prices higher than those of Chinese and Thai products of the same kind. The Vietnam Trade Office connected Vietnamese sellers of dried fish and tuna with Malaysian importers of these products but transactions between them failed due to price disagreement, Dung said. The trade office representative said that although it has a small population, Malaysia has a high demand for seafood, and is not only a member of the RCEP but also participates in many free trade agreements (FTAs).
