For over a month now, relevant personnel at the Ministry of Transport is busy with the final preparations to soon hand over Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway to the people’s committees of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces. In light of Decision No.17/QD-TTg dated July 28, two out of three components under Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway will be assigned to two localities having the road passage for management. The 32km-long first component with an estimated investment value of $244.8 million will be assigned to Khanh Hoa's People’s Committee while the 48km-long third component valued at around $282 million will be assigned to Dak Lak's People’s Committee. In a pattern that seems to have prevailed for years, a transport project is usually put into operation soon after its inauguration, but then within a short time there is a need for its expansion or upgrade. What is more surprising is that even projects that are still under construction are being reconsidered for expansion or an upgrade. Such as in the case of the Hanoi Highway which has been expanded four times and still not complete. It may be that this Highway may even be further expanded. The Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh to Dau Giay Expressway was started in 2009 with an original design plan of four lanes, then soon after increased to six lanes and now being considered for eight lanes. Ministry orders to strengthen epidemic prevention to curb Covid resurgence Accordingly, the Ministry of Health stated that although the Covid-19 epidemic is basically under control nationwide, there has been an increase in cases of the disease, hospitalizations and severe cases in recent times along with the appearance of new sub-variants of Omicron such as BA.4, BA.5 which spread faster than previous variants. The central city topped the ranking for cities and provinces, scoring 0.6419 points, 0.1545 higher than the 2020 ranking released last year. Thua Thien Hue came in second place again with 0.5872 points, and Ho Chi Minh City climbed two spots to rank third. At the conference, the Steering Board agreed to choose the theme of the seminar as “The Northwestern Victory in 1952 - Historical stature and  lessons learned.” The seminar is scheduled to take place in mid-October in Yen Bai city, Yen Bai province. Up to now, the Institute of Military History, the standing organ of the Steering Committee, has collaborated with relevant units and agencies to prepare for the seminar. Particularly, they have ordered 90 speeches from participants, prepared accommodations and ensure transportation for delegates, and so on.
