Cambodia to have trade, labour courts by this year’s end
Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s Minister of Justice Koeut Rith has directed the formation of two committees to begin the process of establishing separate courts for commercial and labour disputes, Phnom Penh Post reported on January 25. According to two decision letters issued on January 21, the committees are comprised of 20 members from the justice ministry, the Supreme Council of Magistracy, government delegates, the heads of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and Appeal Court, and some other relevant officials. To prepare for the establishment of the commercial and labour courts, these two committees’ members have been asked to prepare documentation and legal briefs to determine each court’s relationship to the lower courts and the higher courts, including the Appeal Court and Supreme Court. Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Up to 205 local traders nationwide were permitted to export rice as of January 18, following a list released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency of Foreign Trade. Per the list, the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho saw the highest number of licensed rice exporters at 43. Ho Chi Minh City ranked second with 38 eligible rice exporters, followed by the southern provinces of Long An, An Giang and Dong Thap at 25, 20 and 18, respectively. Other localities with licensed rice exporters were Tien Giang and Hanoi with eight, Nghe An with seven, and Kien Giang and Vinh Long at six. Meanwhile, other localities had only one permitted rice exporter, such as Dak Nong, Tra Vinh, Tay Ninh, Binh Dinh, Binh Duong, Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh. First Hanoi flower street to debut in February for Tet celebrations
Hanoi (VNA) - A flower street with the theme of “Home Hanoi Xuan 2021” is set to be held for the first time between February 7 and 17 in Splendora urban area of Hoai Duc district in Hanoi in order to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival, known locally as Tet. The street will feature a traditional Tet space, including Dong Ho folk paintings, Bat Trang ceramic products, and calligraphic works, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV). In addition, the area will also include traditional items such as Chuong village’s Non La, a type of conical hat, and Chung cake, a festive delicacy consisting of a square sticky rice cake, in order to offer visitors an ideal check-in location. Alongside various art performances, water puppetry show and folk games are also set to entertain visitors throughout Tet.
