Attention is always paid to the implementation of socio-economic and cultural development projects and ensuring of defence and security in the ethnic-populated and mountainous areas in a bid to raising the local living standards, Phuc stressed. Private banks coming strong against state-owned banks

Race for profits Vietcombank has just released its consolidated financial statement for the first quarter of the year, showing a pre-tax profit of more than VND9.95 trillion, which is an increase by 15.3 percent. However, in the first quarter, Vietcombank lost its former place as the number one champion. The private joint stock commercial bank, Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank), has managed to push Vietcombank to second position. According to its consolidated financial statement for the first quarter, VPBank showed a profit before tax of VND11.14 trillion, up by 178 percent over the same period last year. The southernmost province enjoys advantages in agriculture, forestry and aquaculture, which enable it to offer various products and services designated as OCOP. They include food, beverages, handicrafts, and rural tourism services. The province recognised 44 more OCOP products last year, taking its total to 77 ranking from three or four star level under a five-star system. AIP Foundation is gathering with government partners, the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC), the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Transport, the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, and relevant partners for a workshop to celebrate the milestones of the Slow Zones, Safe Zones program thus far and kickstart the extension phase.
