Hanoi will continue supporting workers by helping them access loans and training to improve their vocational skills. Over 137,000 jobs were created in Hanoi in the first seven months of 2022, representing 85.8% of the annual plan and an increase of 23.2% year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. In July alone, Hanoi found jobs for more than 18,400 workers, providing job counseling to 7,200 people and supporting vocational training for 101 people with a total amount of VND443 million (nearly US$19,000), the department said. From daily, online, themed and mobile job boards in districts across the city, 1,900 people have been hired. In addition, 12,100 people have been sent to work abroad. Nosebleed forces Hanoi-Tokyo flight to U-turn
Flight VN384 operated by Vietnam Airlines, with 145 passengers on board, was already one hour and 45 minutes away from Hanoi when the 10-year-old boy suffered a nosebleed. The boy was accompanied by his mother and sister. The crew provided immediate first-aid, and subsequently decided to return to Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport for medical assistance. After landing, the boy was taken to a hospital in Hanoi. His health is now stable. The plane later resumed its trip, which was delayed for four hours. U.N. Women, Japan launch project to reduce COVID-19 impacts on women and girls
The project aims to support about 5,000 poor and vulnerable women in nine provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Da Nang, Dien Bien, Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Nghe An, Thai Binh and Lao Cai. The priority targets are women at risk of violence, those with disabilities, migrant workers, ethnic minorities, people working in the informal sector and those living in disaster-prone areas. Apart from receiving the COVID-19 prevention kits, which include test kits, medical masks and anti-bacteria gel, the beneficiaries will also be equipped with the necessary skills to prevent and respond to COVID-19, disasters, gender-based violence and information about the available support services.
