(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - SEA Games champion Pham Van Mach is targeting a gold medal in his return to the 54th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship next month in the Maldives. Mach is one of the best bodybuilder s in Vietnam, competing in the men's 55kg category and having won several national championships. The An Giang province-born athlete grabbed five world championship gold medals in 2001, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2017. He also triumphed in the continental competition eight times, taking seven titles in a row from 2004 to 2012, and another in 2014. At last month's SEA Games 31, the 46-year-old athlete overcame all other rivals to secure his second Games gold. Vietnamese athletes get off to winning start at World Para Athletics Grand Prix

Photo courtesy of the athlete HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam grabbed two silver and two bronze medals from the 2022 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Rades Stadium, Tunis, on June 27. Cao Ngọc Hùng finished second in the men's F57 javelin throw event. The Paralympian took his best result of 44.06m after six attempts. He was behind Muhammet Khalvandi of the hosts Tunisia, who threw 51.33m. Youssoupha Diouf of Senegal was in third with a 41.64m throw. Later, Hùng's wife Nguyễn Thị Hải claimed a bronze in the women's F56/57 shot put. Hải's six-attempt performance gave her 686 points for the third podium. At the event, delegates reported on outstanding achievements gained by Naval Region 4 in Youth Union activities and youth movements in the 2017-2022 period.
