New facilities to be built at regional general hospitals in HCM City
Viet Nam News HCM CITY— Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has approved three projects to build new facilities at three regional general hospitals in HCM City to meet increasing demand for health examination and treatment. Total capital for the Thủ Đức, Hóc Môn and Củ Chi regional general hospitals is estimated to be more than 5.6 trillion (US$240 million) from the city’s budget. Construction on the 1,000-bed hospitals, which will have 500 beds each for inpatients, will begin this year and finish by 2023. The modern, high-quality hospitals, which meet ASEAN standards, will be outfitted with the latest medical equipment and facilities to provide patients in surrounding areas. Vietnam to invest over $240 million in three 1,000-bed hospitals
Three new infirmaries include the General Hospital Thu Duc, the General Hospital Hoc Mon and the General Hospital Cu Chi. Spending on the infirmaries will be taken from the city budget to improve healthcare services for city dwellers. Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Tan Binh said the construction project of three hospitals is one of the health sector’s six major projects from now to 2020 with the vision to 2030. Six major projects include to build five hospitals: City Children Hospital, Tumor Hospital, the General Hospital Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Thu Duc, and Pham Ngoc Thach Medicine University Hospital. Amongst hospitals, only City Children Hospital was put into operation in 2017 and the Tumor Hospital will be put in use in 2019. Today, she no longer faces the grueling journey thanks to the inauguration of the Chợ Rẫy Phnom Penh Hospital in January 2014. “I no longer have to travel abroad for treatment. It helps save my money and time,” she said with a smile. Khun was just one of many who have benefited from the joint cooperation between Việt Nam and Cambodia in the medical sector.
