Vovinam, the traditional martial art of Vietnam, has been featured in the sixth episode of U.S. TV show The Bachelor. Aired on February 18, the latest episode of The Bachelor in its 23rd season has been shot in Cam Ranh Peninsula, central Khanh Hoa Province. Contestants had the chance to experience the Vietnamese martial art, Vovinam, in one of the challenges. Before going into combat, eight female contestants were taught some basic Vovinam techniques. The challenge was filmed in a complex of old houses in Khanh Hoa. The host of Bachelor Vietnam’s first season, Khoi Tran, also joined this episode, co-hosting it with the famous Chris Harrison. Traditional martial arts tournament kicks off in central highlands
Athletes of Gia Lai Province prepare for the tournament. — Photo baogialai.com.vnViet Nam News HÀ NỘI — The opening ceremony of the Central Highlands traditional martial arts tournament was held on Tuesday evening at Gia Lai Province’s Sports Gymnasium. The tournament attracts 200 athletes from 12 cities and provinces in the Central Highlands region. Athletes compete in 18 weight divisions, including eight women’s weight categories. Host Gia Lai will compete in all weight divisions for men and women. The tournament is open to the public. New light and sound systems have been added by organisers to make fights more lively. Martial art classes teach a 9-year-old Vietnamese boy to crawl
The parents cried all the way home. Eighteen months after their darling, sweet-natured baby was born, they’d been told that he suffered from cerebral palsy and had two deficient legs. They’d consulted the doctors because at 18 months, he was not crawling, sitting or making noise like normal children. The diagnosis devastated them. Cerebral palsy is described by the U.S. based Mayo Clinic as a "disorder of movement, muscle tone or posture that is caused by damage that occurs to the immature, developing brain, most often before birth." Kids get fit with martial arts lessons in school

But this isn’t a game of football or some basic PT. During break times three days a week, all students will gather in the school playground to exercise the first lesson of Vovinam, a Vietnamese traditional martial arts. According to Nguyễn Thị Trang, a teacher who shared the video clip on the social media, most of students enjoy taking part and are upset when bad weather means they have to cancel. Viet Nam News by Hồng Vân Trần Văn Dũng stumbled into a traditional Vietnamese martial art called Nhất Nam as a college kid looking for something to do. After falling in love with the activity, he has shared passion for the martial art with hundreds of pupils in his hometown in the central province of Thanh Hóa. Dũng has established more than 10 martial art clubs since early 2013, attracting more than 500 students from across Thanh Hóa, the birthplace of Nhất Nam.
