National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese legislature left Hanoi on May 15 morning for a three-day official visit to Laos. The visit is being made at the invitation of President of the Lao National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane. This is the first official visit to Laos by a senior leader of Vietnam in the Laos - Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022, and also the first by Hue as Chairman of the Vietnamese NA. UNDP pledges additional 1,450 flood-proof houses for Vietnam
Wiesen made the statement during a workshop themed “Storm and flood resilient housing: Successful model in Vietnam and ways forward” which was held in Hanoi on May 13. Since 2018, a total of 4,100 flood-proof houses have been built through the support of the UNDP and the Vietnamese Government, to increase the resilience of coastal communities who are vulnerable to the impact of climate change, particularly rising sea levels and flooding. The UNDP representative emphasised that these safe houses contribute to securing the livelihoods of residents in coastal provinces by helping them to withstand subsequent storms which have made landfall in Vietnam over recent years, as well as the dangers of severe flooding. Ha Long bars asked to turn off loud music by 11 pm
Bars in Ha Long City will be asked to stop playing loud music after 11 pm following complaints from residents and tourists. The decision was announced by Ha Long City People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Tien Dung at a meeting held on May 13 with leaders of tourism departments and companies in the area. Speaking at the meeting, vice-chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial Tourism Department, Nguyen The Hue said that they had received lots of complaints from local residents, hotel owners, tour operators and tourists at Bai Chay Tourist site about loud music from nearby bars. "It's necessary to have urgent measures to curb the problem which has been said to have lasted for a long time," Hue said. The tourism official said they recently received complaints from a group of 300 tourists who stayed four days at a hotel in Bai Chay from April 19-22. The tourists said they would have enjoyed their holiday if there were no loud music playing late at night at the bars opposite their hotel.
