(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered faster administration of the third and fourth doses of COVID-19 vaccine as part of measures against the unpredictable pandemic situation, especially when the sub-variant BA.5 has appeared in Vietnam and raised the risk of a new wave of coronavirus infections. According to the Government Office, to enhance pandemic control and create favourable conditions for socio-economic recovery and development, the Government leader has assigned Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam to continue directing the Ministry of Health , other ministries and sectors, and 63 provincial-level localities to drastically carry out anti-pandemic measures, especially accelerating COVID-19 vaccination. COVID-19: Vietnam confirms 511 new cases on July 3

Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam reported an additional 511 COVID-19 cases and no death on July 3, according to the Ministry of Health. The new infections brought the country’s total caseload to 10,748,639 since the pandemic broke out. As many as 9,627 patients were declared to be free from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the day, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,708,984. Meanwhile, the death toll related to the disease was kept at 43,047. More than 233.46 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Vietnam to date, including over 18.56 million doses for children aged between 12-17 and over 8.29 million doses for kids from 5-11 years old./. Vietnam logs 730 new COVID-19 cases on July 2

COVID-19 vaccination (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam reported an additional 730 COVID-19 cases and no death on July 2, according to the Ministry of Health. The new infections brought the country’s total caseload to 10,748,127 since the pandemic broke out. As many as 9,694 patients were declared to be free from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the day, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,699,357. Meanwhile, the death toll related to the disease was kept at 43,047, accounting for 0.4% of the total infections. More than 233.09 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Vietnam to date, including 18.51 million doses for children aged between 12-17 and 8.23 million doses for kids from 5-11 years old./. Public urged to get booster shots against Omicron subvariants

The booster shots are expected to help extend protection against subvariants BA.4 and BA.5. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged localities and organizations to accelerate the delivery of booster doses of Covid-19 vaccines to all adults and children to prevent infection of the disease. In a document sent to localities and organizations on July 2, Chinh said the new sub-variant of Omicron (BA.5) has been detected in Vietnam, increasing the risk of the disease outbreaks again, emphasizing that the administration of the booster shots has been slow, and action must be taken to speed up the process. Vietnam Airlines relaunches services to Indonesia

(Photo: VNA) Jakarta (VNA) – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines resumed services between Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta (Indonesia) on July 2 after months of closure because of COVID-19. The first flight in months, coded VN631, departed from HCM City for Jakarta at around 9:40am, with 144 passengers on board; and the return flight took off from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 1:50pm carrying 171 passengers. There are now regular round trips on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. CAAV asked to tackle high rates in flight delays, cancellations

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan has asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to promptly tackle flight delays and cancellations after latest data shows that up to 5,602 flights by domestic carriers were delayed in June (May 19 – Jun 18), accounting for 18.2%. The figure was 15.9 percentage points higher than the same period last year and 9.4 percentage points higher than may, according to the report by CAAV. The report indicates that six domestic airlines – Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines – operated total of 30,808 flights in June, up 528.7% compared to the same period last year and 18% against the previous month. National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and low-cost airline Vietjet Air outperformed the others, running 11,106 and 12,008 flights, respectively.
