Camera footage of the outside area shows him returning after she has closed the gate peering through, pushing the gate apparently to see if it can be open and walking away. Vietnamese man arrested for setting up shell companies to smuggle wildlife parts from Africa
Police in Da Nang, central Vietnam have arrested a man for allegedly running several shell companies which smuggled wildlife parts, such as ivory, lion bones, and rhino horns, from Africa to Vietnam. The municipal Department of Public Security confirmed on Wednesday that they had detained Nguyen Duc Tai, 33, on charges of violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare animals. Officers also searched Tai’s house and workplace and confiscated evidence related to the case. According to preliminary information, police in Da Nang first detected Tai’s suspicious activities in early 2021. A probe later revealed that he and his subordinates had used personal information from several people, including deceased individuals, to set up shell companies with fake headquarters. A poor man in the northern province of Lao Cai has undergone successful heart surgery thanks to donations from Dantri/DTiNews readers. The donations came after an article about the condition of Hoang Van Chung, 32, from Van Ban District’s Khanh Yen Trung Commune was published in the newspaper. Chung and his wife Tran Minh Hang from Bach Mai Hospital’s Social Work Department said that Chung’s heart surgery was conducted successfully on June 19. His condition has much improved. Many people have sent donations to the hospital to assist Chung, Hang added. Chung’s wife Hoang Thi Thu said that she is very happy to see his husband’s improvement following the surgery. A poor man and his son who are both suffering from health problems have just received VND62 million (USD2,696) from the public after their story was published on Dantri/Dtinews. Representatives from Dantri/Dtinews visited Hoang and his son and gave the donations on June 29. Hoang Xuan Ha, 48, suffers from various diseases including diabetes, heart problems and a stroke. He weighs only 28 kilos. His nine-year-old son also weighs only 20 kilos due to malnutrition. Vietnam’s aviation authorities have imposed a nine-month ban on a Vietnamese man after he failed to pay a fine for smoking on a domestic flight. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said on Thursday that 72-year-old Le Quoc T., hailing from northern Ha Nam Province, has been banned from domestic and international flights for nine months. T. smoked on flight VJ 464, operated by low-cost carrier Vietjet Air, on which he occupied the 28D seat, from southern Can Tho City to Hanoi on June 5. The flight ban against T. will take effect from July 8 to the end of April 7, 2023. Vietnam police arrest wanted man after 30-year hunt
Police in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam arrested a 52-year-old man who evaded capture for 30 years after allegedly committing a murder using a grenade at a local wedding party in late 1991. The suspect, Le Van Nho, was eventually detained on Friday last week in the province’s Ha Long City after a hunt of more than 30 years, local police reported on Sunday. The investigation to arrest Nho for the two charges including murder and illegal possession and use of military weapons was recently revived, investigators said. The man, a native of the province’s Van Don District, was put on the wanted list in February 1992, around two months after he allegedly committed the crime.
