Centralized bidding should be implemented to solve drugs and medical supplies shortage

August 19, 2022 by en.qdnd.vn

Associate Professor, Doctor Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, said one of the reasons for this is the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting the drug supply of enterprises. Many businesses do not have drugs and medical supplies to participate in the bidding or witness poor revenue due to low prices, he reported to the Ministry of Health's inspection team on August 16. In 2022, there were 77 out of 1,690 drugs that contractors failed to supply in sufficient quantities under the orders, affecting the hospital's stock of drugs while waiting for the bidding results, Co said. The hospital also recommended the Government and the Ministry of Health issue policies and accelerate the implementation of national and local centralized bidding. Centralized bidding will increase competitiveness with lower prices, reduce manpower, time and costs of organizing the bidding at hospitals as well as better handle problems in the bidding process. On August 16, the inspection team of the Ministry … [Read more...] about Centralized bidding should be implemented to solve drugs and medical supplies shortage

Vietnamese telecoms giants grappling with chip shortfall

August 19, 2022 by vir.com.vn

At present, leaders of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the top provider of telecommunications services and digital solutions in Vietnam, are attempting to shelter from the storm of semiconductor chip shortfall and the ongoing negative pandemic impacts. MobiFone knows that just sticking to traditional business strategies will not cut it going forward, Le Toan General director Huynh Quang Liem explained that while COVID-19’s direct impact on the group’s performance has not been as serious as in 2021, many of its business activities still face difficulties that will possibly affect the company’s revenue and profit targets for 2022 as a whole. Together with interruptions in the global supply chains, shortages of semiconductor chips, and a rise in input material prices, service fees have fallen, which are also affecting business results for VNPT. The group reported that its consolidated profit rose 17 per cent on-year in the first six months of 2022, … [Read more...] about Vietnamese telecoms giants grappling with chip shortfall

Copyright cases rise in face of integration

August 19, 2022 by vir.com.vn

Earlier this year, renowned Vietnamese animation studio Sconnect was the target of a lawsuit by US-based Entertainment One (EO), in which Sconnect’s Wolfoo franchise was sued for allegedly breaching EO’s Peppa Pig character set. Prior to the lawsuit, Wolfoo, a popular multi-language YouTube series based on a family of wolves, gained Sconnect international recognition along with a burgeoning merchandise business. Copyright cases rise in face of integration, illustration photo/ freepik.com The Court of Moscow in Russia on August 3 officially terminated the civil proceedings of the lawsuit, affirming that no breach of intellectual property rights has been linked to Sconnect’s Wolfoo character set against EO’s Peppa Pig character. However, the quickly-resolved lawsuit has nevertheless caused negative impacts on Sconnect’s reputation and business activities in the content creation industry. Talking with VIR, Sconnect’s head of Legal Pham Van Anh shared that the company had … [Read more...] about Copyright cases rise in face of integration

Rice exports up but prices down in seven months

August 19, 2022 by en.vietnamplus.vn

Despite a hike on export turnover, the average export price drops 9.6% in the first seven months of 2022. Illustration. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam exported roughly 4.08 million tonnes of rice in the first seven months of 2022 to earn over 1.99 billion USD, up 17.3% and 6%, respectively, against the same period last year, customs data shows. Despite a hike on export turnover, the average export price dropped 9.6% during the period to 488.9 USD per tonne. It is likely that rice prices will not increase in the coming time as a result of low demand and abundant supply from major exporters. Generally, the market is currently weak, with low purchasing power, said Nguyen Van Don, Director of Viet Hung Co., Ltd, a food exporter based in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang. Since the start of this year, Vietnam mostly exported to the Philippines while shipments to China declined significantly. Exports to other markets, though stable, remained small, he … [Read more...] about Rice exports up but prices down in seven months

Ho Chi Minh City’s foreign enclaves settle into ‘new normal’

August 19, 2022 by tuoitrenews.vn

Since Vietnam officially declared the COVID-19 pandemic under control earlier this year, foreign enclaves in Ho Chi Minh City have, once again, begun to bustle, with old stores resuming their operations and new shops opening every day in commercial spaces that sat unoccupied for months on end. Once Vietnam dropped its on-arrival COVID-19 testing requirement for foreign travelers and reopened its international air routes in mid-May, the number of foreigners entering the country began to increase, paving the way for foreign enclaves in Ho Chi Minh City to return to their pre-pandemic life. In Tan Phong Ward, District 7, home to a significant portion of the South Korean community in Ho Chi Minh City, many stores that shut down between late 2020 and early 2022 are once again open for business, and new shops are moving into commercial spaces that have sat empty for months. Kim Yong Min, a South Korean national living in District 7, shared that his eyeglasses stores, which mainly … [Read more...] about Ho Chi Minh City’s foreign enclaves settle into ‘new normal’
