The collection of Czech-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-Czech poems are edited by Sys and writer and translator Do Ngoc Viet Dung (Do.honza), also a writer, co-authored a collection of poems by Czech and Vietnamese poets. The 762-page bilingual book, which includes works of many famous poets namely To Huu, Xuan Dieu, and Jaroslav Seifert, was honored at the 7th National Foreign Press Award. It was published by the Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House. The Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Embassy held a ceremony on August 17 to present the award to the Czech writer. Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Thai Xuan Dung appreciated Sys’s contribution to popularising Vietnamese culture and literary works in the Czech Republic, helping promote the relationship between the two countries. Long An to spend more on erosion-prevention works along rivers
An area eroded by the Vam Co Tay River in Kien Truong town in Long An province (Photo: VNA) Long An (VNA) - The Mekong Delta province of Long An plans more erosion-prevention work s along major rivers and canals to protect people’s lives and properties. They include embankments of 1.9km, 1.6km and 1.2km along the Vam Co Dong, Bao Dinh and Vam Co Tay rivers in thickly populated areas impacted by climate change. The three are expected to cost 720 billion VND (31 million USD) and will be built in 2022 - 24, according to the province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Besides embankments, the projects will also include infrastructure near them such as roads, pavements, sluices, and lighting. Thailand works with Malaysia in railway projects connecting four ASEAN countries
Bangkok (VNA) – The Transport Ministry of Thailand is cooperating with its Malaysia n partner to develop a high-speed railway system connecting four members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ). According to local media, Chayatan Phromsorn, permanent secretary for transport, has had a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Isham Ishak and companies from the neighbouring country to discuss ways of cooperating to build a railway system linking the two countries. Malaysia earlier requested a high-speed rail connection with Thailand as a transit point to link up with Laos and China. Both sides have exchanged information on the project and Malaysia agreed with the idea of Thailand forming a joint working panel to discuss such a railway system connecting China, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Programme organisers, including the Da Nang Association of AO Victims and other organisations, presented gifts to 30 AO victims and disadvantaged war veterans. They also set up a hotline at the city’s public service switchboard 1022 via which people can make text donations. From June 14 to July 28, 221 units, organisations, and individuals made donations worth over 1.6 billion VND (68,400 USD) both in cash and in kind to the programme.
