Binh Duong smart city in the namesake southern Vietnamese province was listed in the world’s top seven intelligent communities for the second consecutive year. The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) and Binh Duong People’s Committee organized a ceremony in the southern province on Tuesday evening to announce the 2022 Top 7 Intelligent Communities of the Year. Binh Duong smart city was named in the Smart21 Communities for the fourth year in a row and Top 7 Intelligent Communities for the second consecutive year in 2022. In order to get recognized as one of the Smart21 Communities, Binh Duong smart city and other cities around the world had to meet strict criteria including broadband coverage, equality in digital access, innovative workforce, and support for sustainable development, said Louis Zacharilla, co-founder of the ICF. Deputy PM hosts outgoing Danish Ambassador
Ambassador Christensen has left an imprint in Vietnam by pushing for Denmark-based LEGO Group to invest in Binh Duong, Minh said, adding that what makes the LEGO project special is that it will use clean energy which is well aligned with Vietnam’s priorities. He further noted that following LEGO, another Danish renowned company – Pandora – has pledged to pour 100 million USD into a jewelry-crafting facility also using renewable energy at the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park 3 (VSIP3) in Binh Duong. Minh expected both projects will not only pave the way for a new wave of investment into those using the renewables in Vietnam but also help the country attract value chain investors. Green industrial complexes at top of foreign-led wishlist
Factories are now more likely to be powered fully by renewable energy, Le Toan The Danish toy-maker Lego is eager to implement its $1 billion facility in the southern province of Binh Duong. In a meeting with leaders of Binh Duong People’s Committee in mid-June, Lego vice chairman Preben Elnef expressed hope that the province will soon give support to the group so that it can establish a legal entity in Vietnam soon, build the factory, and recruit labourers. Right after Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Group started the construction of its third industrial-urban-service complex in Binh Duong in late March, Lego registered to settle its factory there. Vietnam looks forwards to stronger investment from US, Europe
Denmark’s LEGO recently poured a green investment worth over US$1.3 billion into Vietnam. (Source: baodautu.vn) The strategy for 2021 - 2030, signed off by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, aims at raising capital flows from countries and territories in certain regions to over 70% of total foreign investment in Vietnam during 2021 - 2025 and 75% during 2026 - 2030. The targeted partners include the Republic of Korea (RoK), Japan, Singapore, China, Taiwan (China), Malaysia, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines in Asia; France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and the UK in Europe, and the US. This strategy also looks to raise the number of multinationals listed in Fortune Global 500 operating in Vietnam by 50 percent.
