ILO helps Vietnam lay foundations for new industrial relations framework
The Hanoitimes - Through the project, Vietnam is expected to formulate national labor legal instruments consistent with the 1998 ILO Declaration and work for a better-functioning labor administration system for the new industrial relations framework. Vietnam's Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have signed a project titled “Project on promoting the development of a new industrial relations framework in respect of the ILO Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work” (NIRF project). FDI lays foundation for acceleration of oil and gas sector

(Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Since the Vietnamese Government and Italian contractor AGIP signed the first production sharing contract in 1978, foreign direct investment (FDI) in the oil and gas sector has not only brought large revenue to the country but also laid important foundations for the sector to develop strongly. With the promulgation of the Law on Foreign Investment and the Law on Oil and Gas, FDI in the field, especially exploration and exploitation activities, has grown remarkably. From the launch of the door-opening policy in 1986 through to November 30, 2015, Vietnam had signed 105 oil and gas exploration and production contracts with foreign partners, 39 of which have now expired. The US Senator John McCain. — AFP/VNA Photo Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Senator John McCain, who helped lay the foundation for a cooperative Việt Nam - US relationship, passed away on Saturday (US time) at the age of 81. Tributes to the politicians were paid yesterday including one from the man who was in charge of the prison where he was held for five years. McCain served in the invading war of the US in Việt Nam. He joined in the Rolling Thunder air campaign in 1967, bombing targets in the Democratic Republic of Việt Nam (northern Việt Nam). His plane was shot down on October 26, 1967 and McCain was taken prisoner. He was returned to the US in an exchange of prisoners in 1973. During his time he was held at Hỏa Lò Prison, now a museum which McCain has visited many times. The prison was being run at the time by Colonel Trần Trọng Duyệt. Senator John McCain (Photo: Reuter) Hanoi, (VNA) – Senator John McCain, who helped lay the foundation for a cooperative Vietnam-US relationship, passed away on August 25 (US time) at the age of 81. McCain himself served in the invading war of the US in Vietnam. He joined in the Rolling Thunder air campaign in 1967, bombing targets in the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (northern Vietnam). His plane was shot down on October 26, 1967 and McCain was taken prisoner. He was returned to the US in an exchange of prisoners in 1973. Returning from Vietnam, McCain joined politics and was one of the first persons campaigning for normalization of US-Vietnam relations through promoting humanitarian issues such as removing unexploded ordnance left by the war, searching for missing-in-action personnel, supporting people with disabilities caused by the war, and detoxifying areas polluted by dioxin.
